Description
Originally the stables for the mayor of Hackney in 1890, then a clothing factory into the early 1900s, now an exceptionally unique loft space meticulously developed within the Graham Road conservation area in East London.
On this high profile redevelopment project the Living Concrete team worked to very tight deadlines installing self-levelling FluidConcrete flooring in Cement Grey finish throughout the house. FluidConcrete has a smooth, Polished-Concrete-like finish, that makes it perfect for a modern, minimalist design that can be easily combined with materials like wood and ceramic and it is also suitable for under-floor heating. It can be applied to interior surfaces, with no need for joins or breaks.
The large format bespoke Gap concrete panels were cast to the client’s specifications using our BTX Ultra High Performance Concrete mix with a hydrophobic agent to limit moisture absorption. The panels were installed to bathroom walls and then treated and sealed to make them water proof. The remaining bathroom walls were coated with Oxicrete – acid-stained concrete – in Brown and Terracotta Red finish.
By using materials sympathetic to the original building the space maintains its history and character while providing a state of the art residential space.
